I promised to ban myself from surfing the net but i really need to post this one out before the idea escapes escapes my nutshell. So, I'll just spare a maximum of 20 minutes on it..
"MY DREAM JOB"
Usually, the first thing that comes to people's mind when they think of a dream job is a job that shells out the most. But in reality, most of these high-paying jobs don't really grant you happiness. In my case, i think these kinds of jobs is what you go for if you want to stay safe.. because that's what success is all about, well atleast for mediocre people that's how they primarily define success. MONEY.
And then i thought.. if this is my stand, then what actually is my real dream job? Since at this point, i'm taking the road of financial success to have a safe future; there should be that thought of an actual dream job besides what i'm currently pursuing. because i don't consider myself mediocre(LOL). i don't think success is something you could define just by money, fame, happiness, etc. in the words of dr. joyce brothers, "success is just a state of mind; if you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success".. makes sense.
moving forward to the 'dream job' thingy.. a dream job is totally different from a planned or pursued job.. i know this would sound impossible for me but it's just an idea.. hmm. i think career is the more appropriate word, 'job' doesn't seem right. but anyways, my dream career is to be a professional dancer. hahahaha.. but of course like what i said, it won't happen. i'm writing this just to formulate my arguments about it.
So basically, there are reasons. i don't just come up with something out of the blue. well, actually i do.. just playin'.. i'll just list my reasons of considering a professional dancing career as a dream job which will stay as a dream..
these aren't listed in any particular order such as their importance or benefits to me..
1. you get to do what you love
- if you really have the passion for dancing, this is the best part of pursuing this career. you are not forced to do what you don't want to do. so all that's left to be done is enjoy. well, of course you can't omit the hard work.. but stress is okay if you know you're following your heart. toinks
2. you can channel your love of art through your job
- i thought of this in contrary to most job where all you do is mechanical stuffs or some routine tasks. in dancing, you choreograph.. you innovate. wait, 'innovate' sounds so business-world to me. erase that. the bottom line is that 'there is room for CREATIVITY and IMAGINATION'.. you don't just stick with the sciences and maths of things.
3. you perform and entertain people
- okay, first comment: haram!.. hahahaha.. joke. think about it, performing on stage or anywhere is really fulfilling. i know this sounds cliche but seeing the smiles on the faces of people when you're able to make them happy is priceless. the bragging rights of performing is just a plus.
4. you get to sweat it out!
- you gotta love that. haha.. in most jobs, you don't get to exercise.. unless you allot time for gyms.. but when you are working as a dancer, daym! staying fit and sexy will seem effortless.. while working, you are also working it out. yeah, work it out girl! LMAO
5. you could teach and share your talent to others.
- actually, this doesn't instantly goes with the professional dancing career. but it's an option that most professional dancers go for. it's like a partime job. if you've already proved yourself or let's just say you already have what it takes, you can teach at dancing studios and they will compensate you for it. even if you do it for free, teaching also goes with that feeling of fulfillment like what i said before. it's fun to teach, really.. i actually had my first experience of choreographing a full routine for elementary kids back in highschool. it was a novelty song, LOL. and take note, they won champion! hahaha, that was a fun experience. not just the teaching of steps, but the interaction and involvement with the people you teach.. okay that's enough.
6. you get to travel around the world
- this also requires the fact that you are already known in the dancing world. based on my research(i didn't actually research, but from my experience on stalking professional dancers in the long-run, haha), when you have established your name as a professional dancer, you get invited to visit different countries either to teach there or to perform there. when you dance for music artists, you also get to tour with them. and how COOL is that?
7. you INSPIRE people
- 3 years ago, i've stated in a post here that my ultimate goal was to be able to INSPIRE. it sounds cheesy but it really has a deep impact if you'll think about it. so deep that i can't put in words my thoughts and concerns about it. just ask yourself, when you were able to inspire people how does it feel? of course not VANITY!! it's something deeper than that. even fulfillment is not enough to describe the feeling you get when you inspire people to do something, to pursue something, to make a choice, a difference.. whatever, haha. i'm saying this from my perspective of being inspired too. i am always inspired and will always be inspired by different people or events that are inspiration-worthy. LOL.
8. you get to work with famous people/celebrities
- well, this is self-explanatory. just imagine yourself working or dancing for Justin Timberlake.. OMG! ikanga ni Kim sa enervon, Happiness!! hahahaha.. you get to be friends with the people in the entertainment industry. you also get minor publicity when you perform with them. sponsors could also be included in your contracts with them. for instance, if Britney advertises for Nike, you also should wear Nike in your performances with her. or am i just inventing this? hahahah. but i think it's true.
9. you don't need to exploit the poor or anyone just to make money
- i had a prof who once told us that you don't get successful unless you exploit.. i beg to disagree. that would only apply to capitalism. specifically in business-oriented careers. to maximize profit, you will never escape the involuntary exploitation of resources. for instance, when you hire people, you will pay them the lowest wage. this is very true especially here in the philippines, take the salesladies in malls for example. an another way, which is also common, is overpricing your products or services.. i think this is also exploitation of the poor people. there will be unequal distribution of income. take Chowking for example, everytime i go there i see this people who can't even afford to buy new clothes but dine there with all those overpriced food. the outcome? their earned money for how many days just disappear in a blink of an eye. it's called wealth condensation, the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. hmm.. it would take me an entire post if i'll talk about my perspectives on interesting economic theories. look who's talking..haha
i think this is enough for now. i'm actually planning to list more even some detrimental factors to it but i don't have the time. i said this post will only take 20 minutes from my torture hours but i already consumed 35 minutes as of now.. therefore, i have to go now..
P.S. i have no plan of pursuing this, like i said it's just an idea floating somewhere on my head so i had to let it go before it sinks in my brain. i have an exam tomorrow so i have to free any thoughts unrelated to the exam. haha! as if.. oh sya, fly na akech. xoxo
hi there.. don't read this blog unless you're really bored or really interested. it will waste your time. and if you read something humiliating on my part, keep it to yourself. you might want to leave a message on the chatbox..
